I'd never tried anything from W7 Cosmetics before until recently when I came across them at my local Chemist Warehouse. For only $4.99AUD each, I knew that I had to try out their foundation and primer - I mean, how often do you come across a good quality foundation for $4.99? There wasn't a huge selection of different products in the W7 Range at my local Chemist Warehouse but my next visit to Melbourne I'll be sure to check out what they've got.
Referring back to that amazing price tag, I was surprised as how impressive the packaging was, especially with the foundation. The bottle is made from a frosted glass and doesn't feel cheap, in fact it's actually quite heavy. The primer comes in a convenient tube, perfect for travelling too. Make sure you read on to find out what I thought of both the foundation & primer from W7 Cosmetics.

High Definition 12hr Foundation $4.99AUD from Chemist Warehouse
When's the last time you heard of a foundation being $4.99 in Australia? I honestly can't remember, and don't know that I have actually ever heard of one being so affordable! I was a little disappointed however to find that they only offer 5 different shades, none of which would match my natural skin tone (being quite pale). It also didn't help that my local Chemist Warehouse only had Sand Beige or True Beige in stock - I was really hoping to try out Buff!
So anyway, I persevered and got myself Sand Beige with high hopes. I have been mixing in a few drops of my Shade Adjusting Drops from The Body Shop so that it somewhat matches my fair complexion and so far, so good. When I first applied the foundation, I could tell straight away that it was going to have great coverage. I'm a huge fan of full coverage foundations and don't mind if it's a little thick, if anything, I probably prefer that it's thick because it makes me convinced it's going to have full coverage.
As always, I applied this foundation with my Beauty Blender to get that flawless finish and was impressed at how well it blended out. Although I had imagined the foundation would be quite full coverage, I found that I needed to build it up in areas I had redness. Without a setting powder, the foundation looked semi matte on my dry skin and didn't look cakey either. I however do prefer to set my foundation with a pressed setting powder to lock it in for longer.
This foundation is supposedly meant to last 12 hours, which is a crazy amount of time! But does it live up to the expectations and outlast every other drugstore foundation I've tried? First impressions, I would say yes - with the odd touch up here and there, I found that the foundation really did last a long period of time. Of course a good setting spray, like my favourite Urban Decay All Nighter, will help to set that foundation making it last even longer.

Prime Magic Camera Ready Face Primer $4.99AUD from Chemist Warehouse
I was extremely excited when I saw this primer as I had actually heard that it was a good dupe for the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (which retails for $54.00AUD). The primer is made to minimise the overall size of your pores, smooth out fine lines and give your face a perfect base, ready for a seamless foundation application.
The formula isn't as gel-like as what I imagined it would be but still has that soft, powdery kind of texture once buffed into your skin. I noticed straight away that I really didn't need a lot of product to fill in fine lines & pores - in fact, in the areas where I applied a little too much primer, my foundation seemed to move a lot quicker than the areas I didn't use so much. It feels extremely light on my face and I actually barely noticed it there once I'd applied it.
I usually like to let the primer settle into my skin (especially around my nose & chin) for about half a minute and then go in with my foundation. Another positive that I noticed after applying this primer on my dry skin, was that the foundation I used didn't cling to my dry patches anywhere near as much as it used to and helped to stop my foundation from oxidising like it can without a good primer.
Even though this primer works really well for me, I think it is a lot better suited to people with oily/combination skin who are looking for an affordable primer to mattify their complexion. I prefer to use this primer on the areas that I need it most like my nose & chin and then go in with a more hydrating primer for the rest of my face. I would really like to try out some of W7's other primers as a believe that they really are great value for money & good quality - what more could you want!

Overall, I think that both of the products in today's review from W7 Cosmetics are definitely worth trying. I am going to be keeping my eye out for the foundation in Buff and might even look at getting a few different primers & their highlighter! $4.99AUD is extremely affordable, especially in Australia where our beauty prices are sky high and bargains can be hard to come by.
